Why should you come to VIGMUn?

Hear from past delegates and current and past Secretariat members on why VIGMUN is special, what it means to them, and why you should participate in the next VIGMUN!

“VIGMUN is the Model UN embodiment of 'It's the journey, not the result'. For me, MUN has always been more about the friendship, community, collaboration, and the opportunity to learn. VIGMUN puts this at the forefront.”

— Siddarth Rekhi, VIGMUN XI Secretary General

“To me, VIGMUN embodies the idea that anyone can be a leader, no matter your age or walk of life. I love that we can bring together people from so many different backgrounds to collaborate in a low stakes environment on solving a pressing global issue.”

— Ingrid Schaefer, VIGMUN XI Chargé d’Affaires Internal

“The greatness of VIGMUN comes from its uniqueness. Last year, I found myself at the intersection of the "inter-generational" aspect of VIGMUN. My partner for the conference was a retiree decades older than myself, and I stood in front of the entire committee on a Q&A panel representing a working paper alongside a middle school student. Standing up there, I couldn't help but think about how special and significant that experience was, to work alongside two people separated by generations in age, but united by Model UN, of all things. Above all, VIGMUN is about the community, and marks a relatively rare chance for UVA students to engage with people from across Charlottesville from all ages and backgrounds. There's truly nothing like VIGMUN, and you never know what the conference is going to hold. You get to practice public speaking, learn more about the world, and meet some interesting people. There is absolutely nothing to lose!”

— Zach Geller, VIGMUN X Delegate
