Letter from the Secretary General
Dear Delegates,
It is my honor to welcome you to the eleventh iteration of the Virginia Inter-Generational Model United Nations Conference, held on the historic Grounds of the University of Virginia.
Each year, VIGMUN brings together delegates of all ages, experience levels, and backgrounds to learn from one another, engage in intriguing discussions, and devise creative solutions to relevant, engaging global problems. For me, I was always drawn to Model UN by the collaborative and fun moments in committee, combined with the constructive discourse on global issues. I hope that delegates will be able to experience the same at VIGMUN XI.
This year, VIGMUN commits itself to a spirit of innovation and fun both inside and outside of the committee room. In committee, expect nothing less than the best delegate experience possible—we promise riveting debate, high-quality staffing, and continued support from the Secretariat to ensure all delegates create memorable experiences in their committee rooms. Outside of debate, VIGMUN strives to create an unparalleled weekend experience that kindles new friendships and invigorates old ones. I hope you’re all looking forward to bonding with one another on a refreshing walk around Grounds or over lunch on the Corner. I encourage you all to make the most of your time on Grounds with the numerous opportunities VIGMUN and the University have to offer.
As a final note, I encourage you to attend VIGMUN for the same reason I have decided to lead it: to find a sense of community through a didactic and fun experience. Please feel free to contact me personally at sg.vigmun@iroatuva.org or click the ‘Contact’ button to reach out to us. I am thrilled to have you join us in Charlottesville this February!
