Letter from the Secretary General
Dear delegates,
It is my honor to welcome you to the tenth annual Virginia Inter-Generational Model United Nations conference. My name is Mariam Parray, and it is my privilege to serve as the Secretary-General of VIGMUN X. As someone who has participated in MUN since middle school, I have not only learned so much about international relations but also developed critical thinking, debate, and collaborative skills that have made an immense impact on my life. Many of closest friends and best memories are from conferences, and I hope to recreate that experience for others.
We are incredibly excited to welcome you to the University of Virginia for a day full of debate, collaboration, and discourse on February 8, 2025. As the only inter-generational Model UN conference on the continent, our mission at VIGMUN X is to give everyone the opportunity to learn about international relations and engage in diplomacy, no matter their previous experience. This year, our committee is the International Atomic Energy Agency, and we will debate the topic of nuclear nonproliferation. I cannot wait to see how our delegates approach this issue and develop innovative solutions during the conference.
The VIGMUN X Secretariat has been working tirelessly to create a memorable conference for all delegates. Feel free to explore our website and social media (@vigmunuva on Instagram) to learn more about the conference, and check regularly for updates. If you have any questions or feedback, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at sg.vigmun@iroatuva.org.
Sincerely,
Mariam Parray
Secretary-General, VIGMUN X
